Fixes to try:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Here are 5 tried-and-true fixes for Squad mic not working. You may not try them all. Simply work your way down the list until you find the one that does the trick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Double-check your device and connection<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Configure the sound settings<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Check the in-game settings<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Update your audio driver<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Verify the integrity of game files<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Fix 1 – Double-check your device and connection<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    Before trying anything more complicated, you should do some basic checks to make sure your device and connection work fine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      \n
    1. Test your microphone on another computer<\/strong> to confirm it’s not physically broken.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. If you’re using a wired headset, connect it to a different UBS port<\/strong>, securely and correctly. It’s suggested you use the USB port at the back of the computer as they generally have more power available. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. If you’re using a wireless headset, re-establish the connection by unplugging and replugging the UBS wireless receiver<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    4. Always plug in your headset before you launch Squad<\/strong>. If it disconnects during the gameplay, try restarting Squad to get it to work.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      Fix 2 – Configure the sound settings<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      In most cases, your headset microphone will be set as the default input device once it’s connected. However, Windows updates may sometimes screw up the configurations and you need to tweak the settings manually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Follow the steps here:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Step 1 – Disable unneeded audio devices<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

      1. At the bottom right corner of your desktop, right-click the speaker icon<\/strong> and select Sounds<\/strong>.

      2. Navigate to the Recording<\/strong> tab. Then right-click other unnecessary audio devices<\/strong> and disable<\/strong> them one by one.

        Step 2 – Set your main microphone as the default device<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

        1. On the Recording<\/strong> tab, select your primary microphone and click Set Default<\/strong>.

        2. Right-click your microphone and select Properties<\/strong>.

        3. Go to the Levels<\/strong> tab. Then, drag the microphone volume slider to the max<\/strong>.

          Step 3 – Change the sample rate<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

          1. On the Microphone Properties window, select the Advanced<\/strong> tab.
            \"\"<\/figure><\/li>\n\n\n\n
          2. Select 2 channel, 16 bit, 48000 Hz (DVD Quality)<\/strong> from the drop-down menu under Default Format. Then, click OK<\/strong> to apply the changes.

            If you’ve configured the microphone properly in Windows and still encounter the same problem, the next thing is to look at the in-game mic settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            Fix 3 – Check the in-game settings<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

            For your headset mic to work in Squad, you also need to set it as the right input device in Steam. Here’s how:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            1. Launch your Steam client.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            2. Click Friends<\/strong> at the upper left corner and choose View Friends List<\/strong>.

            3. Click the cogwheel icon<\/strong>.

            4. Select Voice<\/strong> from the left pane. Then, make sure the microphone you’re actually using is set as the Voice Input Device.

              Restart Squad to see if your microphone transmits your voice as normal. If not, try the next fix below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

              Fix 4 – Update your audio driver<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

              Squad mic not working may indicate your audio driver is faulty or outdated. To avoid the compatibility issues with Squad and keep your microphone working with the best performance, you should update your audio driver on a regular basis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

              There are two ways you can do this: manually<\/a> or automatically<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

              Option 1 – Download and install the audio driver manually<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

              To update the driver manually, you need to go to the PC manufacturer’s website or sound card’s website to search for the most recent audio driver. Once you’ve downloaded the correct drivers for your system, double-click on the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions to install the driver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

              Option 2 – Automatically update the audio driver<\/h4>\n\n\n\n
